Emerald Johnston

I am a lingerie Designer with an interest in size, race, and gender inclusive design. Lingerie should be accessible and comfortable for all people. I am interested in how fit and design can help achieve these goals while still creating an exciting product.

My BFA Thesis investigates how to maximize comfort in lingerie through design, fitting, color, and materials.

Beyond designing, I am interested in garment presentation. My involvement in Kent State’s Annual Fashion Show (FS2) for the past three years has refined my skills. I was accepted to the Merchandising Committee my first two years with FS2. My responsibilities involved caring for garments, dressing models for photo shoots, fittings, and critiques. During show week I worked with the dressers to help them with difficult garments or minor dressing issues. As one of the Merchandising Coordinators last year, my responsibilities increased as lead the Merchandising Committee to complete their tasks as well as plan the critiques, fittings, and photoshoot schedules along with the other Management teams. I am excited to have accepted the position of Designer Liaison for this Spring.
