Picasso’s painting “The Harem” signifies comfort through style, color, model posture, subject matter, and through the context of what historians perceived Picasso to be feeling at that point in his life. These qualities will be addressed through design detail, construction techniques, and most importantly an interest in fit. “The Harem” contains all nude figures and their relaxed states are very clear. However, a common problem, often expressed by lingerie wearers is that their lingerie does not provide a sense of comfort or is actively uncomfortable. Many of these issues stem from ill fitting bras and shapewear. Intimate apparel is meant to support breast tissue and contour to the body. When bras and shapewear are fitted correctly they can actually ease pain. Through this research, I have indicated clear methods to impact comfort of the wearer, so that they may receive maximum pleasure from their garments.
